When asked how the two work together, Obata informed reporters that Ohba does not tell him how to draw the characters. Together the two have produced many successful anime works together. After Light uses the notebook for the first time, he releases the owner of this particular Death Note, a Shinigami (God of Death) named Ryuk. If the holder of the notebook wishes to inflict a specific death on an individual, all he has to do is include the details with the name. Doing so will cause an individual to die of a heart attack within seven seconds of their name being written. The inside cover of this notebook features rules on how to cause the death of any individual just by simply writing their name and picturing their face. In the story, a high school senior, Light Yagami, stumbles upon a black notebook called the Death Note.
